No-Crust Apple Pie By Cousin Lexie from Mississippi

 
 
  6 peeled medium tart apples, cut in 8ths 1/2 tsp salt  
  1/2 cup sugar 1/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed  
  1 tsp cinnamon 1/2 cup sifted flour  
  1/2 cup water 1/2 tsp baking powder  
  3 Tblsp butter (or margarine)    
       
  ~ Mix apple slices with sugar, cinnamon and water in saucepan. Cook about 10 minutes, or until apples are partially cooked. Turn into 9" pie pan.  
  ~ Cream butter; gradually cream in brown sugar. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add to creamed mixture, and mix thoroughly. Sprinkle over apples.  
  ~ Bake at 350 degrees, about 45 minutes. Great with ice cream.
