No-Crust Apple Pie By Cousin Lexie from Mississippi |
6 peeled medium tart apples, cut in 8ths | 1/2 tsp salt | ||
1/2 cup sugar | 1/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed | ||
1 tsp cinnamon | 1/2 cup sifted flour | ||
1/2 cup water | 1/2 tsp baking powder | ||
3 Tblsp butter (or margarine) | |||
~ Mix apple slices with sugar, cinnamon and water in saucepan. Cook about 10 minutes, or until apples are partially cooked. Turn into 9" pie pan. | ||
~ Cream butter; gradually cream in brown sugar. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add to creamed mixture, and mix thoroughly. Sprinkle over apples. | ||
~ Bake at 350 degrees, about 45 minutes. Great with ice cream. |
