Operation
Firebird
Between February 24, 2010 and
March 16, 2010 there
were five (5) violent home invasion robberies that occurred in Fresno
and Merced
counties. During the initial investigation it was determined that robberies in
City of Kerman, City of Clovis, Fresno County and Merced County were all
related. A local joint investigation began searching for the offenders of these
robberies. A Crime Stoppers tip lead investigators with vital information that
was needed to solve the case.
Information developed and the investigation
lead detectives to Phoenix Arizona where suspects were identified and
eventually arrested. Investigators from Merced
County, Fresno
County, Clovis Police Department, and
the District Attorney’s office went to Phoenix
served numerous search warrants and arrested eight gang members that were
involved in the robberies. At the same time investigators back in Fresno County
arrested a ninth suspect in Sacramento with the
help of the Marshall’s
Office. This suspect was a resident of the City of Fresno.
During these arrests stolen and illegal guns were recovered, along with
a pound of cocaine. All suspects arrested in Phoenix are pending extradition. The local
suspect arrested in Sacramento
is now in the Fresno County Jail. One suspect is still outstanding; Eden Zazueta 18 years of age, who resided in Phoenix, Arizona,
he currently has a warrant for home invasion charges; his bail is set at
